Tayah Renfro’s practice focuses primarily on estate planning and trust administration, probate administration, and tax controversies and disputes with the IRS and with state and local agencies, such as the Department of Revenue.
Tayah grew up in Snohomish County and attended the University of Washington where she received her B.A. in political science. She then went on to receive her J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law. There she participated in the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC), which represented low income taxpayers in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada in a wide range of controversies with the IRS, including appeals, Tax Court litigation and collection alternatives. After law school, Tayah returned to Washington where she received her LL.M. in tax law from the University of Washington School of Law.
Tayah’s tax background allows her to do sophisticated tax planning for individuals with taxable estates. In addition, Tayah is licensed to practice before the United States Tax Court, and thus assists and represents individual taxpayers and businesses in Tax Court litigation. Tayah also represents taxpayers in all phases of a tax dispute with the IRS and state and local agencies. She is available to provide audit guidance, represent taxpayers in appeals and negotiate collection alternatives.
Tayah currently sits on the board of directors for Citrine Health, a nonprofit organization providing health services and food assistance programs to women and their families. She is also an active member at her church, where she regularly volunteers in the children’s department.
